Please join us on Christmas Eve at 7pm at 107 South/Main Street in the heart of Port Jefferson Village  as we hear the story of shepherds and magi, of maiden and carpenter, of a stable and a star, of prophets and angels and we too join the Journey to Bethlehem for a blessing.  May the hope that is born anew this night in the Christ Child be yours to receive and spread far and wide over the months of this year to come.  Come worship with us and may the Christ child bless you with peace, hope and love.

Join us at the 10am Worship Service on the Third Sunday of Advent where we will celebrate our children and their singing with costumes and exuberance. What a perfect day to focus on the joy that God provides all of us, especially in community with our children.  Joy to this little world, in the heart of the village. All are welcome at First Presbyterian.

  • Service of Darkness and the Promise of Christmas

Please join us for the Service of Darkness and the Promise of Christmas on Saturday, December 21st at 7pm. This service is an observance of the other Christmas, where Christ is present in the darkness of our lives. For many Christmas time is not a joyful one, but rather dark and painful, and it is into that reality that our savior was born – the poverty of a stable, facing homelessness as a refugee, fleeing violence, and not knowing what was to occur next.

  • Maundy Thursday Lenten Soup

Please join us on Maundy Thursday at 6pm as we join in Fellowship Hall for a soup meal before the 7pm Tenebrae Service of Shadows.

  • Tenebrae Service -Maundy Thursday

The Tenebrae Service, which will be preceded by Holy Communion, is an adaptation of an early Fourth Century Worship Service. Literally meaning “Shadows” or “Darkness”, this Service of Shadows utilizes sacred scripture and music to interpret the Passion (suffering) of Christ. The gradual extinguishing of candles symbolizes the growing shadow of the crucifixion looming over Jesus and his isolation in darkness as his disciples desert him. The congregation is invited to leave the church in silence, reflecting on our Savior's suffering, loneliness, and death for our sakes.
