Since 2005, members, pastors, doctors and nurses from numerous churches travel to Honduras for a week of Medical Clinics and Cataract surgeries each January. The Key Humanitarian Initiative to Southern Honduras, in conjunction and collaboration with Honduran churches, doctors, and hospitals, has brought to two underserved communities a water filtration system, and ongoing dental and medical care to two villages which lack even basic services. A new project of creating a regional, self-sustaining, permanent eye clinic is in its formative stage of development, and our church is a receiving agent for contributions to build a permanent clinic for year around use. KHISH and Project Vision hope to create a fully operational, year-around clinic for cataract surgeries. (Currently between 150 and 200 persons receive the return of their sight at the one week clinic run at the annual temporary clinic each January.)
