Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service of Shadows 7:30pm

The Tenebrae Service is an adaptation of an early Fourth Century Worship Service. Literally meaning “Shadows” or “Darkness”, this Service of Shadows utilizes sacred scripture and music to interpret the Passion (suffering) of Christ. The gradual extinguishing of candles symbolizes the growing shadow of the crucifixion looming over Jesus and his isolation in darkness as his disciples desert him. The congregation is invited to leave the church in silence, reflecting on our Savior’s suffering, loneliness, and death for our sakes.
